2008 Summer Releases |
Hello and welcome to all new and returning folk! The summer is upon us and we’ve had a pretty crazy growing season so far. Riddled with frost the vintage has already offered up the potential for minimal yields this fall.
You’ll notice the addition of the Jon Boat Pinot Noir which is our first proprietary wine from the Sonoma Coast. We were offered a few new sites and felt the collective whole was the way to go as opposed to offering 3 more single vineyard wines.
Don’t forget our Mid-Harvest-Relief Pig Pickin’ on the 27th of September at 5015 Coombsville Rd, Napa, CA 94558 (just off the Silverado Trail)! We’ll celebrate swine and its sacred relationship to our wines. Past, present and future wines will be available for your general stoke and purchase. Many of you have RSVP’d and we’re excited to see you. The festival will begin at 2 p.m. and continue through 7 p.m. |

Hello and welcome to Whetstone Wine Cellars! I wanted to invite you to a glimpse into our short history in order that you might better understand where we’re coming from and where we’re headed. So here goes…

I started working at Turley Wine Cellars in the summer of 1998 when I semi-jokingly told a friend I’d do just about anything for a shot at winemaking (Be very careful what you ask for.). Over the following 6 & ½ years I would plant 30 acres of hillside vineyard, become fluent in Spanish, help manage over 200 organically farmed acres of grapes, become assistant winemaker, start my own label, and begin consulting full time. Turley provided for me a venue to do all those things with a continuing education in hands-on farming and meticulous, cutting-edge winemaking. To further enhance my small winery experience, I went to work in Burgundy for Domaine Dujac during a short stint in the summer of 2001.
These days I am a consulting vigneron for Ristow, Temple and Grace Cup in addition to being chief debtor at Whetstone. Finally, I'm a partial debtor and co-founder of Manifesto! Wines.
My love for wine has taken me down several paths that have ultimately merged in the form of Whetstone Wine Cellars. Offerings will consist of Pinot Noir, Syrah, Viognier and Chardonnay. I appreciate your interest in our site and in our wines. Stay tuned…
